Alan is a design principal in San Francisco, where his design leadership has contributed to the office’s growth into one of HOK’s largest studios.
Alan’s projects include airports, healthcare buildings and corporate workplaces. Each exhibits a strong sense of place, drawing on the local culture and community to create truly authentic solutions. His recent work includes the Salt Lake City International Airport Passenger Terminal, the San Francisco International Airport Connector and two projects for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport: the Concourse D Annex and Power of Place Visioning Project.
As a strong advocate for the “power of less” and sustainability, Alan has pioneered a process for creating built environments that make efficient use of the planet’s resources. His highly integrated team approach seeks to minimize square footage, materials, waste and costs
