Faced with an evolving, hybrid workforce and ambitious growth goals, a confidential client sought to breathe new life into its Tampa campus. The company envisioned transforming its existing, 25-year-old amenities building into a vibrant “town center” that would excite employees about coming to work and make its campus a destination of choice.
HOK’s design team researched the company’s projected growth and space needs. This research informed the reimagining of the amenities building into a communal hub that now serves as the bustling heart of the campus.
The design incorporates open ceilings, taking advantage of clerestories, terraces and double-height atriums to cultivate a sense of spaciousness. These architectural elements flood the space with natural light while forging a seamless connection with the outdoor landscape and amenities.
The building features a 24-hour market, a diverse indoor food hall with a variety of culinary options, a fully equipped fitness center, an on-site medical facility and a recreational gaming area.
Flexible multi-use spaces facilitate organic team collaboration. Movable furniture and inviting outdoor terraces provide rejuvenating options for working and gathering. A central stairway encourages employees to walk around and connects the first and second floors.
Since opening, the new amenities hub has garnered an extremely positive response from employees for its inviting atmosphere and diverse amenities. People interact while walking along the paths that connect all campus buildings, and the food hall and other areas routinely reach full capacity for meals and meetings.
The dynamic hub has catalyzed in-person interactions and relationships otherwise missing from remote work. By creating a flexible, engaging space tailored to employees’ needs, the company has set a new standard for supporting hybrid work. The building has become a local and global showcase highlighting its unwavering commitment to its people.
