The new Correll Pavilion represents Grady Health System’s largest capital investment in 30 years. HOK designed the 10-story ambulatory surgical and outpatient facility, which is adjacent to Grady Memorial Hospital downtown. The Pavilion expands clinical capacity by 45% and operating rooms by 25%, allowing Grady to add over 200 hospital beds by relocating outpatient services.
The Pavilion houses outpatient surgery, imaging, rehabilitation, specialty clinics and three pharmacies. It contains six operating rooms with space for two more. Grady’s Cancer Center is also located here. A parking garage for 600 vehicles is integrated into the structure.
HOK’s design emphasizes patient-centered care while incorporating elements conducive to physical, emotional and spiritual healing. Its flexible layout will allow it to adapt along with advancements in medicine, technology and market demands.
Our design also focuses on operational efficiency. A modular layout centered on standardized clinic modules provides the flexibility to accommodate changes in medicine and patient needs over time.
Consolidating outpatient clinical services under one roof makes it easier for Grady’s clinicians and staff to coordinate team-based care across specialties.
Strategically separating patient areas from staff and supply routes helps create a calmer, hospitality-like atmosphere conducive to healing. A soothing color palette, ample daylight and access to city views work together to minimize stress for patients, families and caregivers.
