Lendlease’s new Southern California office incorporates biophilic, sustainable design while supporting the collaborative and egalitarian work ethos of this Australia-based global development firm.
In implementing Lendlease’s customized version of the Activity-Based Work (ABW) strategy, HOK’s team designed the space with no private offices or assigned work stations. Employees work anywhere in the office and in a variety of work settings including private huddle and telephone rooms, casual spaces with couches and booths, and sit/stand workstations accented with living plants.
A large social hub area provides space for snacking, dining and impromptu interactions. The “Shark Tank” encourages Lendlease’s people to participate in collective brainstorming and strategizing.
Vintage furnishings, living green walls and custom artwork add to the space’s casual and hip L.A. vibe. Sustainability measures, including extensive natural daylighting, reflect Lendlease’s commitment to the environment and earned the space LEED Silver certification.
