Morgan Stanley Space and Occupancy Planning

A dedicated, 30-person HOK space management team provided ongoing services to Morgan Stanley between 2009 and 2021. Our team members were embedded with Morgan Stanley’s people at offices in New York, London, Mumbai and Hong Kong.

HOK’s team has provided Morgan Stanley with space and occupancy planning, real estate data management, business intelligence reporting, change management and workplace design services. We continue to support them in a consulting capacity.

Morgan Stanley’s initial goal was to create a single global space and occupancy planning team. Before HOK was engaged, these services had been delivered on an ad hoc basis by internal team members, local contractors and project designers.

HOK established a dedicated team, defined the project types and processes, and created a comprehensive toolkit. Our Planning Recommendations and Project Briefs have become integrated parts of Morgan Stanley’s project approval process.

Our space management team has played an important role in reducing Morgan Stanley’s real estate expenses, optimizing the performance of its portfolio and delivering cost-effective space management solutions. With the support of HOK workplace consultants and designers, our team helped develop Morgan Stanley’s new global workplace strategy and associated design standards supporting increased mobility and collaboration.
