The leaders of Sealed Air—makers of Bubble Wrap® and other packaging products—wanted this new headquarters to foster a positive workplace culture, promote collaboration and facilitate interdisciplinary research.
HOK provided a workplace strategy and interior design for the two office buildings and research lab that make up the 1,400-employee campus.
The design team helped Sealed Air reimagine how its people work by moving them to 100 percent unassigned individual spaces. Business groups and teams occupy flexible neighborhoods with formal and informal collaboration spaces. Depending on their needs for the day, employees can elect to use an open workspace, open or enclosed meeting rooms, or private rooms for heads-down work.
To celebrate curiosity and promote interdisciplinary research, HOK’s design arranges all labs—engineering, electronics, industrial, showcase and traditional wet labs—in functional clusters instead of by divisional boundaries.
Touchscreen technology enables Sealed Air to demonstrate its products to clients in a new innovation center. Display areas have sliding doors that can open or close to show appropriate equipment for specific visitors.
The entire campus is shared by all employees, with amenities including a central cafeteria, outdoor dining spaces, a coffee shop, a fitness center, two ponds and walking trails.
